boomvagynamite asked: Hello! Firstly, I’m a BIG fan. I love the work you guys do and admire you immensely. Keep it up, ‘cause we need you! Followers! Show Abortion Rights (a truly AWESOME organization) some of your love and consider donating funds if you have some available. Love, Rabble
Secondly: I’m a volunteer for a small organisation in the UK called Abortion Rights. Considering the budget problems we’re facing nationwide, groups like ours are suffering under the strain of lack of funds. On top of this, in the next couple of months there is almost definitely going to be a legal challenge against the already very restricted availability of abortion throughout the country.
75% of the UK population believe women should have a right to abortion, and yet this procedure is not guaranteed, and in Northern Ireland is basically illegal. Women in England, Scotland and Wales are often refused abortions or must wait up to 3 weeks to have one carried out. Currently, the coalition government are trying to make it even harder for women to get these procedures, so we need a lot of support in the coming months.
Could you please ask your followers to join Abortion Rights at www.abortionrights.org.uk, follow us at @Abortion_Rights and add us on facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2209067369www.abortionrights.org.uk, follow us at @Abortion_Rights and add us on facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2209067369

GRACE’S STORY
Grace was brutally raped in her own home while nine months pregnant. As a result her husband started abusing her and eventually left her with four children and no resources. She did not have any skills and could not think of how she would feed her children or send them to school.
Grace was able to join the Women for Women International one year programme of rights awareness and vocational skills training thanks to the support of people like you. She is now putting all her spare money into her small baking cooperative and shows a fierce determination to building her assets. She is working hard at becoming a stronger woman, but repairing the damage of war and rebuilding the lives of women is a long and arduous process.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo Grace is not alone in her experience.
In the first 9 months of 2009 there were 7,500 reported cases of rape in the Eastern region and since 1998 more than 5.4 million people have died. Like Grace, women hope for the support of people like you.
This season you have the wonderful opportunity to change the lives of women unrecognisably by doubling your donation through the Big Give.
Thank you!
